Productivity Suite
Productivity suite with Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Meet — the default collaboration layer for most JMK clients.
Google Workspace isn't a tool we evaluate the way we evaluate automation platforms or CRMs — it's more like oxygen for the businesses we work with. The vast majority of our clients are already on it when they engage us, and we build everything else around that foundation. Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Meet form the collaboration backbone that every other tool in our stack integrates with.
Any growth-stage business that needs professional email, document collaboration, and cloud storage in one subscription.
Teams building automation workflows — Google Workspace's API ecosystem connects to everything in the modern stack.
Companies that want AI assistance built into their productivity tools without additional per-seat AI costs.
The collaboration features are still best-in-class. Real-time co-editing in Docs and Sheets, commenting, suggestion mode, and version history make collaborative work frictionless. For client engagements, being able to share a Google Doc and work on it simultaneously beats every other workflow we've tried. Google Meet has also improved significantly — recording, transcription, and background noise cancellation are all solid on Business Standard.
The ecosystem integration is the real value for our stack. BigQuery is a natural extension, Google Sheets serves as a lightweight data interface for clients who aren't ready for BI tools, and Google Drive is the default file storage that every other tool can connect to. The Admin Console also gives IT teams reasonable control over security, device management, and user provisioning.
Google Docs isn't a substitute for proper document formatting. If a client needs polished proposals, contracts, or reports with precise formatting, they'll end up in Microsoft Word or a dedicated tool. Sheets also hits a performance wall around 50,000 rows — for anything beyond that, we push clients to BigQuery or Airtable.
The AI features (Gemini integration) are improving but still behind Microsoft 365 Copilot in practical utility for most business tasks. Google's approach of sprinkling AI across products means no single feature feels as complete as a dedicated AI tool. Privacy-conscious clients also have legitimate concerns about Google's data practices, though Workspace's enterprise agreements address most compliance requirements.
Google Workspace is the collaboration foundation for both JMK internally and most client engagements. We use Sheets as a lightweight data interface (connected to BigQuery via n8n), Docs for project documentation and proposals, and Drive for shared file storage. Gmail + Google Calendar handle scheduling. We don't typically "implement" Google Workspace for clients — they're already on it — but we do configure it as part of the broader stack integration.
Google Workspace is the collaboration backbone for JMK's client base. Our take on where it fits, where it falls short, and how it connects to the rest of the stack.
