Shipping & Fulfillment
Multi-carrier shipping platform that connects to Shopify and marketplaces — handles label printing, rate comparison, and fulfillment workflows.
ShipStation is the shipping layer in our ecommerce stack. When clients sell physical products, they need a tool that aggregates carrier rates, prints labels, and syncs tracking back to their store. ShipStation does this reliably across USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, and the Shopify integration is tight enough that fulfillment status updates flow automatically.
Ecommerce businesses shipping 100+ orders per month that need centralized label printing and carrier rate comparison.
Multi-channel sellers (Shopify + Amazon + eBay) that need one shipping workflow across all sales channels.
Companies that want discounted carrier rates without negotiating individual contracts.

The multi-carrier rate comparison saves clients real money. Being able to see USPS, UPS, and FedEx rates side-by-side for each shipment — and getting ShipStation's discounted USPS rates — typically reduces shipping costs by 15-25% compared to shipping directly through carrier websites. The automation rules are also useful: you can set up rules like "all orders over 5lbs use UPS Ground" or "international orders route to DHL" without manual intervention.
The integration breadth is impressive. ShipStation connects to Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, WooCommerce, and 300+ other platforms. For clients selling on multiple channels, having one fulfillment hub is essential. The batch processing for high-volume shipping days (think Black Friday) works well and saves hours of manual label creation.
The shipment-based pricing model means costs scale with volume. At $9.99/month for 50 shipments, it's affordable for small sellers. But growing into the Scale plan at $99.99/month for 2,000 shipments — or High-Volume at $399.99/month for unlimited — can surprise clients who are used to flat-rate SaaS pricing. The per-shipment cost decreases at higher tiers, but it's still a meaningful line item.
The API and webhook support, while functional, aren't as polished as Stripe or Shopify. We've hit issues with webhook delivery reliability and had to build retry logic in n8n. The UI is also showing its age — it works, but it's not winning any design awards.
ShipStation is the fulfillment layer in our ecommerce builds. It sits between Shopify (order source) and carriers (label generation). We use n8n to build workflows around shipping events — tracking number updates trigger Klaviyo email flows, shipping exceptions post to Slack, and fulfillment data syncs to BigQuery for delivery time analysis.
